The Senior Community Service Employment Project
(SCSEP) offers qualified persons a "stepping stone" back into
the work force. To qualify for the program a person must be at
least fifty-five (55) years old, a resident of Northern Kentucky,
and meet federal low-income guidelines.
Positions with SCSEP are intended to provide the recent work experience and
on-the-job training needed compete in today’s job market. Participants
typically spend some time learning basic computer skills, resume-writing and
job-search techniques before being assigned to a government or non-profit agency
for their on-the-job training experience. NKCAC partners with a variety
of organizations throughout Northern Kentucky to develop meaningful work experience
placements for participants. This partnership helps the trainee while helping
the organization extend its scarce resources.
Participants work in training positions for 20
hours per week at minimum wage while they update their job skills,
get job experience, and learn new skills. Trainees benefit from
assessment, counseling and referrals to other local agencies
for additional services. Staff provide job search assistance
as participant gain the skills, contacts and experience they
will need to be successful in the job market.
