The Northern Kentucky Community Action Commission is pleased to announce graduation for the 2007 Home Buyer’s Club on May 1, 2007!! Thanks to a contribution and partnership from PNC Bank, the 2007 Home Buyer Club was a real success. Club meetings took place over several months and provided a wonderful opportunity for many families to get the education they need to make one of the most important decisions of their life.

Many of our Club graduates have dreamed of home ownership and the special design of the Club allowed them to take the time they need to make the right decisions. The Home Buyer Club helps consumers understand and prepare for the home buying process so that they can become successful homeowners. The curriculum is designed to empower consumers with the information that they need both to protect themselves and to make the best decisions based on the options that are available. Consumers are given the tools they need to make an informed decision and to understand that purchasing the home is step one and the most difficult part of the process is to actually retain the home.

For consumers, financial education is the key to building wealth — regardless of their incomes. For communities, financial education programs can help promote stronger and more stable neighborhoods—where residents are more resistant to downturns in the economy and other financial threats. Financial education can help families become more aware of common pitfalls and thus avoid them. It can also help them to learn the financial management and planning skills needed to make the most of their income, savings and assets.

The ultimate goal for most families is to move toward the goal of self-sufficiency and to ultimately achieve home ownership. Northern Kentucky Community Action Commission assists families with becoming self-reliant. The organization has a solid reputation as a voice for the low-income and for providing quality and critical services to meet their needs.
