Northern Kentucky Community Action Commission recognizes community and individual efforts at Annual Meeting

Northern Kentucky Community Action Commission celebrated their 2008 Annual Meeting on Monday evening with dinner at the Marquise Banquet Center in Wilder. With over one hundred people in attendance for the annual event, awards were presented to recognize the outstanding commitment of NKCAC’s community partners and volunteers.

The 2008 Community Partner Awards were presented to the Robert M. Butler Foundation. Community Services Partner of the Year, Duke Energy’s Business Women’s Network and Toyota Motor Manufacturing’s Women’s Leadership Forum, Head Start Partner of the Year, Housing Authority of Covington, Training Site of the Year, Home Builders of Northern Kentucky, Youth Build Partner of the Year, PNC Bank, Housing Partner of the Year, Arlene Gibeau, Community Volunteer of the Year and the Life Learning Center for Agency Partner of the Year.

Every year the agency presents two additional awards. The Doris Wiedemann Award recognizes a Board Member who’s displayed outstanding dedication and commitment to the board and to NKCAC. This year the award was presented to Newport resident Verna Fenhoff, who has served on the board for 14 years. The Community Service Award was presented to Catherine Bidleman, the agency’s Finance Director for her personal initiative and efforts in advancing the agency’s finance department.

The evening concluded with a standing ovation honoring Joan Menning, Head Start Director for NKCAC who will be retiring in August after 30 years of service.
