Summer Feeding Program wins Sunshine Award for second year
The Northern Kentucky Community Action Commission Head Start Summer Food Service Program was recognized by the U. S. Department of Agriculture for the second year running as one of the southeast region’s most exceptional programs. A plaque was recently presented to NKCAC representative, Nutrition Specialist Susan Rushing, at the Kentucky Summer Food Service annual training in Carrollton, Kentucky.
The USDA’s Summer Sunshine award recognizes exemplary sponsors or state agencies in six categories for their accomplishments in the Summer Food Service Program. Thirty four programs were nominated from eight states. Programs from Kentucky received awards in five of six categories. NKCAC was awarded the 2006 Sunshine Award for "Partnering with other Organizations and Groups" in both 2005 and 2006.

The Summer Feeding program provides meals at no cost to all children 18 years of age and younger. Private donations help cover the cost of meals and activities. You can donate to this important service by clicking on the link below.
