Head Start's policy council works closely with the NKCAC Board of Directors to develop policy and procedures, plan programs and staffing and assist with day to day operations of the agency's five Head Start centers. Parent representatives are elected from each of the centers to serve on the Policy Council, and community representatives are nominated by the members and staff.
Head Start provides a quality pre-school education for 444 low income and disabled children in five centers, serving Boone, Campbell, Kenton and Pendleton counties. Head Start is unique among pre-school programs because of its emphasis on parent involvement, including parent representation on the program's policy committee.
