INFORMATION ON POVERTY
Half in Ten: The Half in Ten campaign has set 50 percent reduction goal as their first step toward eliminating poverty. Half in Ten believes that society can accomplish a goal of cutting poverty in half if we deepen and expand the public will to move forward, and if we channel that will toward proven policy solutions. Half in Ten is attempting to update the public’s perception of poverty and change the course of federal, state, and local governing by encouraging policies that create good jobs, strengthen families, and ensure economic security.
Poverty USA: An excellent visual representation of what it means, in financial terms, to live in Poverty, from the U. S. Conference of Catholic Bishops. (2004 figures are used in this demonstration.)
