Recent Staff Appointments at Laurie Wolsing has been appointed Assistant Head Start Director for Northern Kentucky Community Action Commission. Laurie has been with NKCAC for over twenty years, serving for most of that time as Education and Mental Health coordinator. Laurie is a native Northern Kentuckian, and attended Northern Kentucky University. In her new role as Assistant Head Start Director, Laurie will be responsible for assuring that Head Start's rigorous performance standards are met and exceeded at each of the agency's five centers. She will also oversee STARS and NAEYC accreditation and participate with the region's Success by Six initiatives. September 1, 2006 Jennifer Belisle has been appointed at the Community Services Director for Northern Kentucky Community Action Commission. Belisle’s duties include managing the agency’s network of neighborhood centers, LIHEAP and other crisis assistance programs and outcome reporting. She is responsible for staff training, leading several agency initiatives, including poverty simulation and family development credentialing. Jennifer’s prior experience includes United Way of Greater Cincinnati and the Freestore Foodbank. Her degree is in Journalism from Ohio University. February 29, 2006 Florence Tandy has been appointed by the Board of Directors to serve as NKCAC's Executive Director. Before coming to Northern Kentucky, she served as the executive director of a community action agency in central Missouri, and the associate director of a community action agency in central Kentucy. Florence has over 20 years of experience in nonprofit leadership roles, including human services, health care, training and technical assistance organizations. Noteworthy accomplishments include developing and implementing the concepts for three intergenerational centers in central Kentucky and designing the nation’s first Women in Highway Construction training program. She has a BA in political science from the University of Kentucky, is a certified fund raising professional (CFRE) and a certified community action manager. Besides directing the $8 million Northern Kentucky Community Action Commission and its 135 employees, Florence lives in rural Boone County with her husband of 25 years and their two teen age children. She replaces Brian Angus, who served at Executive Director at the community action agency for 3 years. - August 1, 2005
