Northern Kentucky Community Action Commission chosen for
Duke Energy Global Service Event

Saturday, June 17, 2006 a group of nine volunteers from Duke Energy gave a day of service to their community.  The group of volunteers from Duke Energy showed up at Northern Kentucky Community Action Commission's Newport Head Start Center with paint brushes and rollers in hand ready to paint the day away. The group added a fresh coat of paint to the Head Start Center which will start a new year for the children in August of 2006. Northern Kentucky Community Action Commission's Head Start serves more than 400 children annually.  

Head Start is a comprehensive pre-school program for children 3 and 4 years of age.  The services include an education program, health, dental, mental health, speech, hearing, vision, nutrition, family services and transportation.  Head Start is free to low-income families and/or children with disabilities in the counties of Boone, Campbell, Kenton and Pendleton.
